CIS customs services to discuss fight against violations in cross-border ecommerce

 GRODNO, 13 April (BelTA) – Counteraction to violations in cross-border online trading will be discussed at a meeting of the CIS Committee of Heads of Law-Enforcement Divisions of the Council of the Heads of Customs Services, BelTA learnt from the State Customs Committee.

The 13th edition of the session is currently underway in Grodno. Partaking in the meeting are heads of the State Customs Committee of Belarus and the Federal Customs Service of Russia, heads of the customs committees and services of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and also representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the Customs Police Department of Latvia.

One of the issues on the agenda is the consolidation of efforts against violations in cross-border ecommerce. Participants of the meeting will hear a report on the activity of the working group on the fight against illegal international trade in drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors. The Committee will also consider the issues of customs investigation and interrogation, cooperation in enhancing the qualifications of officers of law-enforcement divisions of the customs services of the CIS member states, canine activity. The participants plan to discuss the creation of an open channel for information on violations in the customs area as well as the organization of 24/7 contact points to exchange law-enforcement preventive information.

Besides, the participants of the meeting will get familiar with the working experience of the Belarusian customs service in preventing crimes and violations in the customs area. The program of the meeting will include a visit to one of the Grodno border checkpoints.
