Turkmen Dasoguz assumes functions of CIS Capital of Culture

 MOSCOW, 24 March (BelTA) – The CIS Capital of Culture program will be launched in the city of Dasoguz (Turkmenistan) on 29-30 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.

“Founded around 400 years ago at the edge of the Karakum desert, the city which was once on the way of the Silk Road, takes a thorough care of the unique historical monuments, many of which have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Modern infrastructure, combined with the careful attitude to the historical heritage, allowed Dasoguz to win the CIS Capital of Culture title,” the press service of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund said.

The launch events of the Dasoguz - the CIS Capital of Culture program includes the opening of the exhibitions of fine arts and crafts, and photos, a concert program at the Rukhiyet Palace with the participation of art groups from the CIS countries. The Dasoguz - the CIS Capital of Culture program is implemented with the support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.
