Kyrgyzstan to host the first Asian Snooker Championship

Bishkek, Jan. 20 / Kabar /. The Asian Snooker Championship will be held in May of this year in Issyk-Kul for the first time, Secretary General of the Kyrgyz Snooker Federation Shairbek Mamatoktorov said speaking at a press conference at Kabar Agency.

The tournament will be held in the city of Cholpon-Ata. 150-200 athletes from 25 countries will participate in the championship.

"Kyrgyzstan will be represented by six players, three of them are the famous players Mohamed Karimberdi uulu, Kalys Sagynaliev and Syimyk Uraliev, who have already shown themselves in international competitions. Kyrgyzstan has made its debut at this championship, and immediately our player entered the 32 best snooker players of the world," he said.

Mamatoktorov also expressed hope said that the tournament will be held for sponsorship money.

He also added that the championship will promote not only the development of this sport in Kyrgyzstan, but also attract tourists in Kyrgyzstan. "We have a great opportunity to present Kyrgyzstan in a good light. If the championship held at a high level, then the next year we can host here the World Snooker Cup, where more than 65 countries of the world participate in it," Mamatoktorov said.

Also during the press conference, Secretary General of Snooker Federation shared his plans that there are plans to build in Kyrgyzstan multifunctional sports arena for Central Asia.

President of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) Sheikh Mubarak Al Khayariin said that, they came to check the readiness of Kyrgyzstan to the championship. "Here we met good people, and I hope that the event will take place at a high level. We will support snooker federation of Kyrgyzstan," he said.
