Prosecutors of Kyrgyzstan take part in the 7th General Meeting of the Anti-Corruption Network for. Eastern Europe and Central Asia in Astana

 Bishkek, December 23 / Kabar /. A delegation of prosecutors of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the 7th General Meeting of the Anti-Corruption Network for. Eastern Europe and Central Asia, held in Astana from 19 to 21 December 2016, the press service of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

The event was attended by representatives of the competent authorities of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Mongolia, the United States, Great Britain, Denmark, Croatia, Montenegro, Israel, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and the International Association of prosecutors.

The participants of the meeting adopted a new Case Study of Network Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), devoted to international cooperation in the fight against corruption. They also discussed issues concerning the legal procedures of confiscation of property obtained through corruption offenses.

During the discussion, the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic together with the delegation of the Republic of Romania initiated to create a special OECD-based website on network of law enforcement agencies in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. The initiators said that the website should contain detailed information on the central bodies of the countries that carry out international cooperation in mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, in particular on corruption crimes, as well as the necessary information from the criminal and criminal procedural legislation of the countries on the confiscation of property and return of assets obtained by criminal means.

It should be noted that this meeting was a forum for the exchange of experience and discussion of practical tools to identify, investigate and prosecute corruption cases, with an emphasis on international legal cooperation on corruption cases, the confiscation of incomes and prosecutors’ independence.
