Kyrgyz cities and Japan’s Kochi Prefecture to establish sister city relations

Bishkek, December 19 / Kabar /. On 17-18 December 2016 Kyrgyz Ambassador to Japan Chyngyz Aidarbekov made a working trip to Kochi Prefecture.

As part of the visit, the Kyrgyz Ambassador held official talks with the Governor of the region Mr. Masano Ozaki. The sides reached a series of agreements for the promotion of Kyrgyz-Japanese cooperation. In particular, the sides stressed the need for establishment of sister city relations between the individual cities of the Kyrgyz Republic and Kochi Prefecture, expressed interest in the expansion of direct economic relations, export of Kyrgyz products to the Japanese market and the presence of Japanese businesses in Kyrgyzstan.

The sides also determined the joint work for 2017 to conduct cultural events in celebration of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by former Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani, who is a member of the parliament of Japan - Head of the Parliamentary League of Friendship "Japan-Kyrgyzstan".

An official reception was held the same day dedicated to the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the Honorary Consul T. Nakazhima. The event was attended by over 700 guests from among the representatives of the local administration, private sector and the media.
