Kyrgyz government discuss a plan to support ethnic Kyrgyz living in the Afghan Pamirs

Bishkek, December 16 / Kabar /. Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Cholpon Sultanbekova held a meeting today to discuss a support of ethnic Kyrgyz living in the Large and Small Pamir (Afghanistan), the Kyrgyz government’spress service reports.

The participants of the meeting discussed the Action Plan for 2017 to assist ethnic Kyrgyz living in the Large and Small Pamir.

Deputy Chairman of the State Service for Migration under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Asanbaev reported that 208 families live in the Small Pamir and about 273 families in the Big Pamir. Currently, the total number of ethnic Kyrgyz is about 2 thousand people. During the meetings with ethnic Kyrgyz living there, they told about their socio-economic situation, including problems relating to education and health.

Sultanbekova said that the Government of Kyrgyzstan will consider the problems of ethnic Kyrgyz and take measures to solve them.
