Kyrgyz Government intends to develop and strengthen bilateral cooperation with WFP – Vice Prime Minister

Bishkek, December 9 / Kabar /. Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Cholpon Sultanbekova met on Thursday, December 8 with Deputy Country Director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) in the Kyrgyz Republic Keiko Izushi, the Kyrgyz government’s press service reports.

Keiko Izushi informed about the projects implementing by the UN World Food Programme in the Kyrgyz Republic, in particular the program for improving the school feeding project and assist in the development of national social protection systems and improving the social and economic sustainability of communities.

Keiko Izushi also said that the main goal of WFP is to strengthen the capacity of the Kyrgyz Government in improving food security and nutrition, improving community sustainability, with a focus on improving the school meal, rural development, social protection, disaster risk management and adaptation to climate change.

Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic on behalf of the Government expressed appreciation to WFP for the fruitful cooperation.

"We are interested in that the projects you have implemented to be continued with the widest possible coverage of different directions. The Government for its part, intends to develop and strengthen bilateral cooperation," Cholpon Sultanbekova said.
