 Bishkek hosts socio-educational exhibition

Bishkek, December 6 / Kabar /. The socio-educational exhibition "Through the water: civilian research in Naryn schools" opened in Bishkek.

According to organizers, the exhibition – it is a product of the project "Environmental Education and Civil Science in the mountain regions of Kyrgyzstan", implemented by CAMP Alatoo Public Foundation and University of Central Asia with the support of the Open Development Network and the Joint Science (Canada).

"Participants in this project were 10 schools in Aktalaa and At-Bashi regions of Naryn oblast, among them the teacher of biology, geography, chemistry, physics, and students. The goal is to stimulate research at the local level by providing schools with the necessary tools to conduct research and training for teachers and pupils with the help of the developed water quality monitoring management," the organizers said.

Based on the analysis of biodiversity, physical and chemical properties of water at different levels of the watershed, the students evaluated the quality of the water in the area adjacent to their homes.

The exhibition is a visualization of the research process and the results of local research. Project participants used different ways of presenting the material: models of transpiration (evaporation), filtration model, short videos (interviews with local residents, the new interpretation of the fairy tales, instructive stories) related to water.

The exhibition will run from 6 to 10 December 2016.
