PepsiCo installs cottage cheese production line at Kyrgyz factory

The Bishkeksut facility has benefitted from the addition of modern equipment and a fully automated manufacturing process, as well as a new packaging design for products under the Veselyy Molochnik – or Happy Milkman – brand. The capacity of the new line is about 7,000kg of cottage cheese per day.

It is not the first time that the plant has been upgraded by PepsiCo; it has undergone extensive modernisation since 2009 to raise the quality of the products it produces and improve working conditions for the factory’s employees. As well as cottage cheese, Bishkeksut produces kefir, milk, sour cream and fermented baked milk and yogurt, sourcing its milk from the Chui region of northern Kyrgyzstan. It is based in the capital, Bishkek.

Inaugurating the new installation, Kyrgyz prime minister Sooronbai Jeenbekov said: “I’m glad to take part in the start-up of a new production line of the company. Putting into operation the new line will allow [PepsiCo] to increase production volumes and expand the range of products. It is pleasant that the Bishkeksut plant uses local raw materials [and] supplies its dairy products not only to the domestic market but also for export. The enterprise has, for many years, contributed to the development of agriculture as a reliable partner of local suppliers of milk.

And Bishkeksut general director Margarita Rumyantseva added: “We are proud of the products that we produce on the enterprises of PepsiCo in accordance with the international quality standards. Today we officially opened the line to produce cottage cheese [for] Happy Milkman; this brand is widely known in Kyrgyzstan and outside it. We will continue to make our consumers happy by offering delicious dairy products of a high quality, produced from fresh milk using modern equipment.”
