The situation in Batken is stable

Bishkek, May 9 / Kabar /. As a result of negotiations with Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Abdyrakhman Mamataliev with the local population of Batken region, the traffic on Osh-Batken- Isfana highway is resumed. The Government’s press service reports.

"Now the situation on the border with Tajikistan is stable and under control of the security forces," says the report.

Vice Prime Minister Mamataliev attended celebrations in Batken on the occasion of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Vice Prime Minister congratulated the residents of Batken oblast and wished good health veterans and home front workers. 

Parliament members, mayors and local state administration and local residents also took part in the festivities. 

On May 7 a conflict occurred in Batken oblast at around 19.20 in Jaka-Oruk village between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. According to preliminary information, the cause of the incident was scrumping escapade of Tajik citizens, who throw stones a car of a Kyrgyz citizen, driving along the Batken- Isfana highway. A crowd of people aroused to skirmish which developed into mutual stoning.

After the incident Kyrgyz citizens blocked the highway Batken (KR ) - Isfara ( RT ) and closed road Isfara - Vorukh.
