Bishkek, May 29 / Kabar /. On May 30, 2012, the United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development, will recognize the achievements and cooperation of the Quality Learning Project ('Sapattuu Bilim') in a close-out event for School Advisory Committees in Batken, Chui, and Issyk-Kul provinces. The event will take place at Supara Ethnographical Complex at 11:00 a.m. (1A Karagul-Akmat Street, Kok-Jar village).

The event will be an opportunity to share experiences of local school Advisory Committees on improving the quality of education and will summarize the Quality Learning Project's activities devoted to the reforming the school financing and management system. Participants will include Minister of Education Kanatbek Sadykov and the USAID Representative to the Kyrgyz Republic, Carey N. Gordon.

Since 2008, the USAID Quality Learning Project in Batken, Chui, and Issyk-Kul provinces has supported the role of local communities in improving the quality of school education. The project's per capita financing mechanism has given school administrations the flexibility to use limited school budget resources more effectively. The school advisory committees, including school administrators, community leaders, and parents, have had a significant role in deciding how best to use school resources to provide quality education to local children. Since 2010, school administrations and advisory committees in these three pilot provinces have conducted open budget hearings to plan and review school budgets in cooperation with their local communities.
