 The oldest participant of a seminar for imams in Osh is 80

Bishkek, Jan. 4 / Kabar /. The oldest participant of a seminar organized by Yiman Foundation for imams  (the head of Muslim community) in the southern Osh city of Kyrgyzstan, imam of Eshme village Bayaz Arapov is 80 years old, the press service of the Foundation reported.

He has been working as imam for 23 years. Bayaz Arapov graduated from Stalingrad Technical Institute and worked as tractor driver in the village for 20 years.

Despite his age, he continues to serve the people, but in the religious spheres. He says that its never late to study. He successfully completed the first stage of the training and received a certificate.

"The knowledge gained at the seminar for imams I apply when performing my duties as imam. I came again to study in the second stage of a training, to further broaden my horizons and knowledge," he said.

The Yiman Foundation conducts the second phase of training for imams of Kyrgyzstan under the project "Capacity building and education of priests of KR". The seminar involved 118 imams from Chui oblast, 134 - from Batken and 10 - from Osh.

The project is being implemented by Yiman Foundation and the Spiritual Management of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan in the framework of the Concept of Kyrgyzstan in the religious sphere for 2014-2020, in order to improve the quality of the practical work of imams with the population, which is an important factor in the prevention of religious radicalism and extremism.
