Potable water supply system is rehabilitated in Ak-Tyuz of Kemin rayon

Bishkek, December 2 / Kabar/. In Ak-Tyuz village of Kemin rayon the rehabilitation of potable water supply system has been completed. Now for 800 residents of the village the improved access to clean water is provided due to the special construction of the site with two water reservoirs, Mirlan Dyikanbaev, Naryn Area-Based Development Programme Media expert reported.

According to Zhazgul Usakeyeva, the resident of the village, Ak-Tyuz residents have now opportunity to use the drinking water without interruption for the first time over the years due to the built water reservoirs. “Some time ago the Ak-Tyuz village water supply system fed about 5 thousand people. It was built back in the 1950s with the expectation for such population. However, in recent years due to the worn out state of the system the failure occurs in drinking water supply.

Within the framework of the UNDP project on the development of communities located near radioactive sites, with support of the Russian Federation, a special site with 2 water reservoirs was built. The capacity of each is 200 cubic meters. This allows ensuring necessary drinking water supplies quite sufficient for the whole population of the village. The amount of grant support is 85,500 USD.

The project " Socio-economic development of communities around radioactive sites " is funded by the Russian Government and implemented by UNDP. This project is aimed at creating conditions for sustainable development of the municipalities located near radioactive tailings - the city of Orlovka and Min-Kush, Kadji-Sai and Ak-Tyuz villages and implemented since 2015.
