Human rights projects implementation discussed in Osh

Bishkek, July 29 / Kabar /. First Vice Mayor of Osh city Zamirbek Askarov met on Wednesday with regional representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) for Central Asia Ryszard Komenda.

The press service of the Osh Mayor's Office reports that, during the meeting the sides discussed issues related to the current activities of OHCHR and the project "Peace and reconciliation through the strengthening of rule of law and protection of human rights" and "Unity in Diversity".

In his opening speech Zamirbek Askarov noted the close cooperation of Osh Mayor’s Office with the UN OHCHR.

"We appreciate the partnership established with the UN OHCHR, and the invaluable contribution you make to the implementation of projects aimed at protecting human rights and preventing violations in the city of Osh," Askarov said.

Vice Mayor also told about the work carried out by the Mayor’s Office in the field of protection of human rights and the strengthening of inter-ethnic relations.

Regional Representative of OHCHR in Central Asia Ryszard Komenda spoke about the thematic areas of work of the regional office, including work in the field of human rights, work with the Ombudsman in this area and youth training programs.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to develop bilateral cooperation, including the development of education programs for young people in the field of human rights protection.
