 Scientists begins excavating the remains of a prehistoric animal in Issyk-Kul

Bishkek, March 18 / Kabar /. A group of scientists, experts of the Institute of history and cultural heritage of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by the candidate of historical sciences, director of the Institute of Archaeology Kadicha Tashbayeva, has begun excavations of the place where the remains of the prehistoric animal were found.

Scientists have examined the area, took some samples and continued the excavation of the remains.

Recall that the remains of the prehistoric animal were found by locals on 10 March 2016 near Otradnoe village of Issyk-Kul. During the excavation an upper part of the head, tusks and teeth were uncovered. According to the villagers the remains may belong to a mammoth.
