Scientists of National Academy of Sciences of KR arrive in Issyk-Kul to study remains of prehistoric animal

Bishkek, March 18 / Kabar /. A group of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic has arrived in Issyk-Kul to study the remains of the prehistoric animal, the press service of the Government’s Plenipotentiary in Issyk-Kul oblast reports.

The group is headed by candidate of historical sciences, head of the archeology department of the Institute of history and cultural heritage of the Academy of Sciences Kadicha Tashbaeva.

"Scientists will study the place of discovery of remains, take the necessary samples and take a conclusion," the press service says.

Recall that the remains of the prehistoric animal were found by locals on 10 March 2016. During the excavation an upper part of the head, tusks and teeth were uncovered. According to the villagers the remains may belong to a mammoth.
