 President Atambayev took part in opening ceremony of the bridge over Kok-Art River

Bishkek, July 8 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev took part in the opening ceremony of the bridge over the Kok-Art River in Suzak region of Jalal-Abad oblast on Bishkek-Osh highway.

According to the information policy department of the President’s Office, in the course of his speech, the President noted that today one of the largest bridges in the country opens. "It has a strategic importance for Kyrgyzstan. The road running through the bridge is more than 570 kilometers, and it passes through Jalal-Abad, Chui, Naryn and Issyk-Kul oblasts of the country. The road connects many regions. I congratulate you on the opening of a new bridge! Let it will serve our people for many years. It will be a bridge of friendship, prosperity and unity of the bridge! " said Atambayev.

He also said that the old bridge was built in 1969 and served the people for 46 years. "For 20 years no major repairs were made on this bridge. The bridge was in poor condition and did not meet safety standards. Therefore, the JICA grant completed the full dismantling of the old bridge, and built a new bridge 89 meters long. The total cost of the bridge about 1 billion 118 million Japanese yen, or nearly $ 12 million," he said.

On behalf of the people of Kyrgyzstan, on behalf of residents of Jalal-Abad oblast the President expressed sincere gratitude to the Japanese government and the friendly people of Japan, the leadership of the International Cooperation Agency JICA. "I am confident that our long-term fruitful cooperation will continue to be directed at the creative works", said Atambayev.
