Business development assistance for women entrepreneurs in Osh and Batken

 Bishkek, April 14 / Kabar/. On April 13 in Batken,women entrepreneurs and officials from the State Tax Service, the head of Kyrgyzpatent, and tax experts met to exchange information to help grow business in the region. The meeting was sponsored by USAID’s Women’s Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises Program (WLSME) together with International Financial Corporation’s (IFC) Project on Taxation in Central Asia.A similar meeting will take place on April 14 in Osh for women entrepreneurs of Osh oblast.

The entrepreneurs shared their experience working with government officials; received detailed information on tax registration, tax management, inspections, and filing reports; and learned about intellectual property and procedures for registering trademarks.

At the end of the meeting, the winners of the WLSME business plan competition received awards. In addition, all the winners will now have access to individual technical consultations and mentorship, and will be able to participate in trainings and exchange visits. 

WLSME is implemented by ACDI/VOCA in partnership with the Bai-Tushum Bank Group. WLSME supports 750 women across the country by providing training on business management and technical skills to encourage growth of small and medium enterprises led by women. The program also helps connect women entrepreneurs to suppliers and buyers, business associations, and service providers.
