Atambayev and Rahmon discussed the recent incident on the Kyrgyz- Tajik border
Bishkek, May 9 / Kabar /. Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - Almazbek Atambayev and Emomali Rahmon discussed the conflict on the Kyrgyz- Tajik border on May 7 between residents of border villages. Kyrgyz President’s spokesman Kadyr Toktogulov said.
The meeting of Presidents is held on the results of meeting of the CSTO informal summit in Moscow. "The parties noted that to avoid such incidents it is necessary to speed up the process of delimitation and demarcation of the state border. This issue should be worked out at the level of the two governments, " said the spokesman.
Recall that on 7- 8 May night in the village of Jaka-Oruk of Batken region a mass brawl took place between the residents of border villages.
In connection with the incident, provoked by citizens of Tajikistan, Tajik Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Olim Rakhimov was invited to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry. During the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev handed over the Tajik diplomat the official note and expressed extreme concern about the illegal actions of the citizens of Tajikistan on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, and voiced the demand to take exhaustive measures to identify and punish the perpetrators and compensate for material damage to citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
