 Kyrgyzstan signs Customs Code of the EEU

Bishkek, December 26 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan signed the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union, Russian media reports.

Earlier President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev at the summit of the Eurasian Economic Union in St. Petersburg refused to sign the Customs code of the Union and Declaration on trade development, RBC reports referring Chairman of the Eurasian economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan as saying.

The signing of the common for the five countries of the Union of the document was planned at a summit in St. Petersburg.

The presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Armenia signed the code and statement. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has not arrived to the summit.

The customs code was agreed and approved by the Prime Ministers of five EEU member-countries on November 16.

All the documents earlier agreed in full scope will be sent to Minsk for approval by the President of Belarus because of absence of Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko at the summit, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said.

The Customs Code of the EEU will succeed to the Customs Code of the Customs Union approved in 2009. It is expected to come into force from July 1, 2017.

EEU includes Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
