President Atambayev takes part in meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in narrow format

Bishkek, December 26 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev during his working visit to St. Petersburg took part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in a narrow format, the Kyrgyz President's press service reports.

Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the heads of the CSTO member states, and after photographing, the participants conducted talks in narrow format.
Opening the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that this year, the Eurasian Economic Union will turn two years, so there is a good occasion to sum up the joint work over this period and to exchange views on the prospects of further development of the Eurasian integration.

President Almazbek Atambayev at the beginning of his speech expressed his deep condolences to the families and friends of those killed in the plane crash near the city of Sochi and the brotherly people of Russia. "We grieve with you," he said.

Speaking about the activities of the Eurasian Economic Union, the President stressed that 2016 was significant for Kyrgyzstan as a full member of the Union.

"There have been a lot of changes: there were both positive aspects and negative. Unfortunately, the negative aspects sometimes prevails and it generally makes impact on how the people of Kyrgyzstan perceive the country's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. And it naturally imposes a negative imprint on the economic impact of the integration of Kyrgyzstan into the Eurasian Economic Union," Atambayev said, offering to discuss the existing issues in the forthcoming negotiations.
