Bishkek to mark the 25th anniversary of establishment of Kyrgyz-US diplomatic relations

Bishkek, December 2 / Kabar /. Bishkek hosts conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United States.

During the official part Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Emil Kaykiev said that diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 27 December 1991.

"In addition, the United States is one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Kyrgyzstan. In 1992 the parties opened on the territory of the two states the first Embassies. The history of the relationship has begun from this date, allowing to enhance our cooperation step by step. This year was marked by a significant event - the 25th anniversary of Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic. These dates are pushing us to analyze the traversed path and set new goals. It should be noted that today's event is similar to the conference held at the George Washington University in the United States. After a quarter-century the bilateral partnership expanded to cover the main areas of the international agenda, including the strengthening of democratic relations, market reforms, the fight against such challenges as international terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking and others," he said.

In addition, Kaykiev said, it is necessary to continue close bilateral cooperation in the field of development of trade-economic relations and attract investments from the US.

Meanwhile, the press attache of the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan Christine Marsh told reporters that during the conference they will touch upon the cooperation in the economic sphere, the connections between people.

"We will also touch on what we have managed to do in 25 years," she said.
