Bishkek, November 14 / Kabar /. U.S. Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Sheila Gwaltney made a statement on the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.

“On November 9, the people of the United States of America elected Donald J. Trump as our forty-fifth President. President-Elect Trump will take office on January 20, 2017. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry are committed to, and have already begun preparing for, a well-coordinated and effective transition to the incoming administration.

I would like to thank President Atambaev for his warm words of congratulations to the President-Elect. The United States of America looks forward to continuing -- and expanding -- our cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic for the next 25 years, and beyond. We will continue to work together on the development of the region, and to jointly address global challenges and counter modern threats. We greatly value our relationship with the Kyrgyz Republic, which is a relationship based on trust, equality, and mutual respect.

President Obama put it very eloquently when he said that a peaceful transition of power is one of the hallmarks of our democracy. He noted that, through effective transitions of power, the United States has moved forward for 240 years, pushing through boundaries to expand the rights and opportunities of our citizens. Smooth transitions of power also allow us to continue to advance our relationships with partners around the world, and we are thusly committed to continuing to bolster our close cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic,” says in the statement.
