Kyrgyz Parliament adopts a document to regulate referendum procedure

Bishkek, October 26 / Kabar /.Deputies of Kyrgyz Parliament adopted at today’s session the draft constitutional law "On Referendum of the Kyrgyz Republic", which clarifies the procedure for holding a referendum.

89 deputies voted for and 15 were against the adoption.

The document regulating the voting procedure is to be signed by the president of the country.

The document regulates referendum procedure, sources of financing, as well as responsibility for violation of the adopted law. The bill proposes to limit the activities of groups of participants of the referendum, agitating "for" and "against" the issues submitted to the referendum. It is proposed to define the list of entities that initiate a referendum procedure for signature collection and verification of signature sheets, summing up the procedure of voting.

The bill was initiated by MPs Bakyt Torobaev ( Onuguu-Progress), Omurbek Tekebayev ( Ata Meken) Tynchtyk Shaynazarov ( Onuguu-Progress) and Almambet Shykmamatov ( Ata Meken).
