Russia to chair CIS since 2017

Bishkek, September 16 / Kabar /. The chairmanship in the CIS in 2017 has been transferred to Russia on the results of CIS Summit in Bishkek on Friday, September 16.

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev told at the meeting that the presidency in the CIS in 2017 moves to Russia.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Nikolai Doroshenko said that Ukraine does not accept the presidency of Russia due to the annexation of the Crimea.

In addition, concerning the population census in 2020, he said that Ukraine will take part in it, but if Russia will take into account the population living on the territory of Ukraine, annexed by the Russian Federation, Ukraine will not accept the results of the census.

Putin said, what happened to the Crimea is the result of illegal actions of certain political forces in Ukraine that brought to a coup. "Crimea joined Russia on the will of the people living in this territory. This action is in full accordance with international law and the UN charter. And Ukraine, unfortunately, has not signed and ratified the CIS Charter and cannot make recommendations on the work of this structure," said the Russian President.
