 Kyrgyz and Uzbek Prime Ministers discuss border issues

Bishkek, September 5 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Zheenbekov during his visit to Uzbekistan on September 3 met in Samarkand with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reports.

Zheenbekov expressed condolences on behalf of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev, noting the key role of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in forming sovereign Uzbekistan, in strengthening the international position and economic and social development of the country.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for the support in difficult times for the country and the people and thanked Prime Minister Sooronbay Zheenbekov for participation in the farewell ceremony with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

Prime Ministers at the meeting discussed the prospects of trade and economic partnership, cooperation in the fields of agriculture, transport infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to cross-border issues.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev, Deputy Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurbek Alimbekov, MP Anvar Artykov and Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan Daniyar Sydykov.
