 President Atambayev and EU Special Representative discuss priority issues of cooperation

Bishkek, September 3 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev received Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Peter Burian, the Kyrgyz President's press office reports.

During the meeting they discussed a wide range of priority issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union, implementation of bilateral agreements, including in the electoral field, as well as key priorities for further cooperation in various fields.

President Atambayev and Special Representative of the European Union Peter Burian discussed issues related to the promotion of reforms in Kyrgyzstan in various spheres, ongoing efforts to strengthen human rights and the fight against corruption, as well as the proposed changes to the Constitution. Also, the attention was paid to the preparations for the presidential elections.

The Head of State thanked the Special Representative of the European Union for participating in the opening ceremony of the memorial to those killed during the events of 1916, which is important for the people of the country.

Special Representative of the European Union, Peter Burian will also attend the opening ceremony of the Second World Nomad Games.

The meeting was also attended by Head of the European Union Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic, Cesare De Montis.
