Kyrgyz Interior Ministry: The situation in Andarak village is stable

Bishkek, January 7 / Kabar /. At present the situation in the village of Andarak of Batken oblast, where clashes took place on December 29 among young people of Kyrgyz and Tajik nationalities is stable. The press service of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry reports. According to the information of the press service, now the council of elders of the region, women activists in conjunction with local authorities carry out explanatory works to prevent further incidents. 
Recall, clashes took place on December 29 at about 15:00 pm in Andarak village between pupils of the village school and a group of young residents of the village. As a result of clashes, pupils of the schools were beaten, one of the pupils 16 years old T. Nurmukhammed was taken to hospital.
Parents of T. Nurmukhammed applied to the regional police department. Around 18:00 pm local residents gathered at the scene demanding to find young people who beat pupils. At about 20:00 pm there were about 1.5 thousand people who were displeased with what happened.
In order to prevent illegal activities and prevent clashes governor of Batken oblast Arzabek Burkanov convened an extraordinary meeting to ensure security and public order and visited Andarak village.
At present, interdepartmental commission formed by decree of the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan is working in the village to study causes of the conflict.
