In Kyrgyzstan prisoners stopped hunger strike action


Bishkek, March 30 / Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan prisoners stopped mass hunger strike action.  The first deputy chairman of the State Service for Execution of Punishment Kalybek Kachkynaliev told journalists.  

“Last night, prisoners stopped mass hunger strike action, having understand that authorities do not make any concessions. All the prisoners began eating. An explanatory work is conducted among prisoners concerning influence of hunger strike to their health conditions”, Kalybek Kachkynaliev said.

On March 25 convicted of three correctional facilities started hunger strike action. The same day afternoon convicted of all 11 penitentiary facilities of Kyrgyzstan joined the hunger strike action. The demand of the prisoners was improvement of conditions in prisons and not to detain members of organized criminal groups.

During the mass hunger strike two inmates – consumptives died.
