Kyrgyzstan is taking preventive measures to prevent terrorist attacks

KABAR, December 15. “The law on terrorism and religious extremism counteraction was adopted in 2006, but its realization was not provided”, head of the State Service for National Security of Kyrgyzstan K. Dushebaev told at the press conference.   

 According to him, the terrorist organizations are developing plans to destabilize the situation in the republic. Evidence of this are the events of recent months, in particular, a special operation to detain extremists in Bishkek and Osh, during of which weapons and explosives were found, the blast at the Sports Palace in Bishkek.

"We are taking preventive measures to suppress activities of these organizations and prevent terrorist attacks. By instruction of the country’s President it is planned to start functioning mechanisms of anti-terrorism center in January 2011, which will be directly involved in this direction. Also a lot of work conducted on interaction of the Security Service with special services of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Russia on effective counter-terrorism”, K. Dushebaev said.
