Uzbeks and Kyrgyz clash in Moscow

Dozens of Uzbeks and Kyrgyz came to blows outside a subway station in southern Moscow, reported Radio Free Europe. Between 20 and 40 people were involved in the brawl Monday night that sent one person to the hospital with knife wounds. Three Kyrgyz and two Uzbek were arrested and released, according to the Moscow Times. The exact cause of the clash is unknown but it follows a similar fight between Uzbek and Kyrgz nationals last month outside a different Moscow subway, according to RFE. Tensions between the groups are running particularly high. Clashes between Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks in Kyrgyzstan last month left at least 300 people dead and caused an estimated 300,000 people to flee their homes; 75,000 people remain displaced.
