70 bodies not included in official list of Osh unrest victims identified

KABAR, June 30. The Kyrgyz interim government has set up a committee in charge of searching for people who went missing during the violent ethnic clashes in the city of Osh in the south of the republic on June 11-14, Interfax reported citing to an Osh administration spokesman. On Tuesday, the members of this committee "identified 70 bodies that were not identified earlier and were not included in the official list of riots victims," the spokesman said. The Kyrgyz Health Ministry earlier officially confirmed the death of 297 people during the unrest in the south of the republic. "Investigators will soon have to start to exhume bodies from a common grave located outside a predominantly Uzbek neighborhood near the village of Kyzyl-Kyshtak in the Osh region," the spokesman said. "The preliminary information available to us confirms that the grave could contain some 150 bodies," he said.
