U.S. Government donates over $5 million in medical supplies
Bishkek, February 11 / Kabar /. On February 12, 2014, the U.S. Government, through the American charitable organization “Project HOPE,” will make a donation of medical aid valued at over $5 million to medical facilities in Bishkek, Chui, Naryn, Talas, Osh, Jalal-Abad and Issyk-Kul regions, and to social institutions under the Ministry of Social Development.
The humanitarian donation is delivered within the frame of the “Operation Provide Hope” program and contains medicines, vaccines, medical supplies and “Personal Energy Transporters” generously donated by leading pharmaceutical companies such as Merck, Schering, Janssen, Sanofi, Pfizer, Covidien, 3M, P.E.T. and others.
Thanks to this humanitarian donation over 62,000 patients will receive high quality medicines and medical supplies. The medicines will help to treat patients suffering from cardiovascular, infectious and oncological diseases. Also, thanks to the donated diphtheria and tetanus vaccines approximately 150,000 children will receive vaccinations consistent with the recommended schedule.
The humanitarian assistance will be delivered according to a distribution plan approved by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Development, based upon needs and requests from medical and social institutions.
