Bishkek schools closed for quarantine due to flu

Bishkek, December 2 / Kabar /. All the Bishkek schools are closed for quarantine because of flu and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) until December 12, the press service of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office reports.

A meeting of the Coordination Committee on socially significant and especially dangerous infections of the Mayor’s Office is held under the chairmanship of Vice Mayor Aigul Ryskulova.

During the meeting the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Center reported on the status of the incidence of ARVI and influenza in Bishkek. The Epidemiological Center told about seasonal increase in the incidence of ARVI and influenza. The largest number of cases falls on the age up to 14 years, 66.8%, including children up to 4 years - 41.3%, from 5 to 14 years - 25.5%. Currently, the attendance of schools dropped sharply. Thus, according to monitoring of the regional centers of education, in 35 schools the percentage of missing children is more than 20%.

In order to organize timely measures on prevention and strengthening measures on the incidence of influenza and ARVI the Coordination Committee on socially significant and especially dangerous infections has decided to suspend the teaching process in the capital's schools from 5 December up to 12 December 2016 inclusive.
