Russia allocates Kyrgyzstan a grant of $ 5 mln to support vulnerable people - WFP in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, December 21 / Kabar /. Russia has allocated to Kyrgyzstan a grant of $ 5 million to support vulnerable population, the United Nations the World Food Programme (WFP) in the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

A grant of $ 5 million is part of the regular annual contributions of the Russian Federation to support WFP programs. This funding will be allocated for the implementation of the joint project of UN WFP and the Ministry of Labour and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2017.

In particular, the grant will be aimed at increasing the incomes of vulnerable rural populations through rural infrastructure development and vocational training on a wide range of disciplines.

"Continued support from the Russian Federation provides continuity in the implementation of development programs and helps expand the range and scope of projects to support the most vulnerable and in need of Kyrgyzstan," country director of WFP in Kyrgyzstan Ram Saravanamuttu said.

The Russian Federation, which is the main donor of WFP in the Kyrgyz Republic, has allocated in total more than $ 50 million to support WFP programs in the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at improving food security, social protection and optimization of school feeding.
