 Finland is interested in export of products from Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, December 14 / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Zheenbekov met today, 14 December, with a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, headed by Ambassador and Senior Advisor for Policy Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland Juhani Toivonen, the Kyrgyz government’s press service reports.

The Prime Minister was presented the program of the project of cooperation that Finland intends to extend in Kyrgyzstan, particularly in the fields of agriculture and fisheries, as well as geology.

Sooronbay Zheenbekov said that the Government of Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Finland.

"We appreciate the assistance and support provided by Finland in various sectors of cooperation and of course in strengthening democratic principles. Our system has similarities with the state system in Finland, we have to learn from you a lot. And we intend to go forward and develop in this direction," Zheenbekov said.

The Prime Minister stressed that Kyrgyzstan is interested in renewable energy, including small hydropower and solar energy. He also noted the great potential untapped public-private partnership (PPP).

Ambassador Juhani Toivonen said that Kyrgyzstan is an attractive tourist country and for Finland as well.

"We are interested in export-oriented products. Our two state bodies being established a close relationship. At present, we made a list of Kyrgyz products for export, which is composed of 10 names. The most attractive for us from this list are: Kyrgyz honey, nuts, dried fruits and textiles. In the near future a delegation of businessmen is expected to arrive in Kyrgyzstan, who can be your potential partners in the field of exports from Kyrgyzstan to Finland," he said.

The Prime Minister said that the Kyrgyz side is ready to support these projects.

Zheenbekov also said that today Finland is a leader in quality education, health and agriculture. In this regard, it was proposed to exchange experience between the staff of the ministries of the two countries.
